Dr. Akash Patel is a board-eligible cardiologist who grew up in the St. Petersburg area. After graduating from the International Baccalaureate program at St. Petersburg High school, he completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis with majors in Biology and History. He then attended medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine and subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. During residency he became interested in cardiology through his research with the division of Heart Failure, and was published in Circulation, JAMA Cardiology, and the Journal of Cardiac Failure. He was then accepted to the Cardiology fellowship at Boston Medical Center and completed his training there in June 2018, after which he returned to St. Petersburg to join Bay Area Heart Center.
In his free time, Dr. Patel enjoys soccer, playing with his nephew Sam, and spending weekends with his golden retriever, Martin.
