Vipul Pandya MD, FACC joins Bay Area Heart Center with 22 years of cardiology experience in Pinellas County. He previously worked locally with a large multi-location, multispecialty medical group. Over the years he assumed a leadership position in the cardiology department as medical director of echocardiography.
Dr. Pandya was born in India, but grew up from a very young age in the New York-New Jersey area. After high school, he was admitted to the highly competitive 7 year accelerated combined BA-MD program at CUNY Brooklyn College. After earning his MD degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical School, Dr. Pandya completed post graduate training in internal medicine and subsequently cardiovascular disease at Robert Wood Johnson medical center of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. During his Cardiology fellowship, He was actively involved in teaching and research specifically using signal averaged EKG combined with dobutamine stress echo for early diagnosis of cardiac ischemia. He is board certified in Internal Medicine (inactive) and Cardiology (active) and is well versed in all aspects of clinical cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
Outside of work, Dr. Pandya enjoys traveling and spending time with his family including his dog Winnie. He enjoys the outdoors and fitness including running and cycling, having participated in several duathlons and 1/2 marathons. He is also an avid sports fan, especially baseball, often traveling around the country to follow his favorite team.
