Dr. Vikas Bhatia is a board-certified cardiologist dedicated to treating diseases of the cardiovascular system. Dr. Bhatia earned his medical degree at the esteemed, Mualana Azad Medical College in India. During medical school he attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas as a visiting medical student. Dr. Bhatia did his Internal Medicine Residency training and Cardiology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
As a resident at UAB, Dr. Bhatia was an accomplished researcher, having won Top Ranking Abstract Award from the American Heart Association and the Thomas N. James Award for Excellence in Research by a Resident at UAB. He continued to publish and pursue clinical research during his fellowship training. He has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals including the Circulation, Journal of American Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Medicine, and International Journal of Cardiology. He serves as a peer reviewer for a number of medical journals related to the field of cardiology. In 2014, Dr. Bhatia was inducted to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical society, honoring his commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and service.
Outside of his career, Dr. Bhatia enjoys playing tennis and basketball.
